DISTRICT TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Schedule: Friday, May 20 Saturday, May 21 Courts available: Noon Courts available: 9 A.M.

Meeting: 12:40 P.M. Meeting: 9:45 A.M.

Play begins: 1:00 P.M. Play Begins: 10:00 A.M.

 

Format: The top four finishers from each sub-district tournament will be seeded into an eight man bracket. The tournament will be modified double elimination. The top for placers from each bracket will advance to the State Tournament.

 

Scoring: All matches will be 2 out of three sets with ad scoring. A 12-point tiebreaker will be played at 6-6 in each set.

 

Warm-up: A 10 minute warm-up with a maximum of 10 serves will be allowed.

 

Rest Periods: Every effort will be made to allow a half-hour rest time between matches. Players are advised to remain at the tournament site. If a player leaves the site,

then they should check with the Tournament Director to establish the estimated start time for their next match. USTA guidelines will be followed regarding players who are not prepared to start their next match. A 15 minute default time will be enforced.

 

Concessions: Concessions will not be sold at the facility. There are a variety of local businesses near the courts.

 

Rules and

Conduct: USTA guidelines will be strictly enforced.

 

Coaching: As per WIAA rules: 2 minutes between first and second sets;

10 minutes between second and third sets.

 

Other Sites: The city courts at the park will be used.

District Championship Scoring: A District Trophy will be awarded to the winning boys and girls teams. The scoring will be as follows: 2 points for a win in the Championship Bracket, 1 point for a win in the Consolation Bracket, and 1 point for the runner-up in each bracket.
